Quick Overview
The Whirlpool WPW10392132 Refrigerator Defrost Bi-Metal Thermostat is a component located in the freezer compartment of the refrigerator. It tracks temperature fluctuations and acts like a self-regulating switch. As the freezer cools and frost forms on the evaporator coils, the temperature decreases. The bi-metal thermostat activates a switch when a specific temperature is reached. This action triggers the defrost heater, which melts the frost buildup on the coils. Once the temperature rises above a set point, typically just above freezing, the bi-metal thermostat resets, turning off the heater to prevent unnecessary heating and to maintain efficient defrost cycles. The W10392132 Bi-Metal Thermostat plays a role in managing the defrost cycle, contributing to the refrigerator's overall temperature control.
